“We chose this mantle design because of the four little faces. They add a touch of the whimsical, I think. We also like the colorful mosaic tile.”

“When we moved in, in 1898, Maud’s older sister Isabella was married that summer in our church on Third street. We were pleased to host the reception here after the wedding. The large rooms and the passages between, allowed the guests to move about freely. We were very happy with the arrangement of the rooms here and it was a memorable evening indeed.”

“You may have noticed the room to the right of the vestibule. It is shaped like a drum. Every vertical surface is curved, including the glass in the windows and the pocket door as well. The floor is composed of numerous small pieces neatly fitted together. We were fortunate that there were craftsman available here to do such intricate work.”

“Now we invite you to join us upstairs.”
